We will always begin each practice with a gentle therapeutic adaptation, gradually moving into a stronger variation. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and to stay with gentler options as desired.

Certified Yoga and Movement Therapist, Christy Fisher, has been teaching therapeutic yoga for over 25 years. She has studied Yoga for Osteoporosis with Ellen Saltonstall and Dr. Loren Fishman and integrates many of these principles into her classes for students who live with Osteoporosis.

With autumn comes shorter daylight hours, cooler weather, and less hectic schedules – all perfect conditions for slowing down and shifting attention from the external world to the internal. Set aside time for a bit longer practice, with a special intention of finding yourself at home inside yourself once again.
Asana typically makes up the bulk of drop-in classes, but this extended practice will be different. We will utilize pranayama, kriya (practices working on the subtle level of energy), and meditation more than is typical of a drop-in class. The intention will be to go more deeply inward than what we may give ourselves space for in a regular class. Some postures will be present, but will simply be used to ground and distribute energy.

Come accept Nature’s invitation to come back to the deep well of silence and ease within.

Extended Practice – Energy and the Chakras

Swami Kripalu said that prana (energy) is like the rays of the sun. Like the sun at the center of our solar system radiates outward and enlivens all, prana radiates out from Spirit and enlivens all. Working with energy can therefore connect us to Spirit and contribute to healing on all levels. This extended practice will be all about working with energy and the chakras (energy “wheels”).

Asana typically makes up the bulk of drop-in classes, but this extended practice will be different. We will utilize pranayama, kriya (practices working on the subtle level of energy), and meditation more than is typical of a drop-in class. The intention will be to go into deeper work than we may give ourselves space for in a regular class. Some postures will be present, but will simply be used to ground and distribute energy.

If you are ready to explore working with energy and the chakras, come join us!
