Yoga for Osteoporosis Series (online)

Classes are online through Wallingford Yoga’s Zoom Classroom.

For people who have registered for the full series or who keep a current monthly unlimited pass, each class will be recorded and available with unlimited access for the duration of the program plus two weeks, which makes it possible to view recordings as often as you would like and to practice at your leisure.

In this series we will:

  • Learn how to adapt yoga practices safely for bones that may be more fragile.
  • Improve strength and balance
  • Study a specific research-supported approach to yoga that has been proven to strengthen bones.

Certified Yoga and Movement Therapist, Christy Fisher, has been teaching therapeutic yoga for over 20 years. She has studied Yoga for Osteoporosis with Ellen Saltonstall and Dr. Loren Fishman and integrates many of these principles into her classes for students who live with Osteoporosis.

Thanksgiving Day Practice (Online)

What better way to start out your Thanksgiving Day than with an extended yoga practice for yourself? Our moderate level practice together will include both movement and stillness to create balance, leaving you energized and centered for the day. The 1 ½ hour practice will include energetic postures, pranayama (breath work), kriyas (breath-based or mantra-based practices to affect energy), and meditation.

This special day of thanks gives us the opportunity to focus on abundance, gratitude, and contentment during our formal practice together, creating a solid foundation to carry out into your life off the mat. It will also get your body moving and digestive fire activated before gathering with friends and family over autumn’s bounty.

Take an afternoon for yourself to experience profound restoration. In this retreat we will explore:

  • Gentle therapeutic movement to support healing and balance
  • Restorative poses using bolsters, blankets and eye pillows
  • Gentle breathwork to relieve stress and quiet the mind
  • 45-minute guided Yoga Nidra to support deep relaxation
  • Informal quiet time to enjoy tea, rest, journal if desired, and reflect.

Join others in our wonderful community to welcome the New Year through mindful, gentle movement and breathwork, followed by extended relaxation and meditation. Within a space of deep quiet, we will create intentions for a peaceful new year.
