This extended practice will have the theme of healing body, energy, and mind on a personal level and directed outward to others. This will be a very special extended practice, in that a large portion (at most, half) of the class will be utilizing a mantra that aids in each person finding the healing capacity within. Kalyani will repeat the mantra aloud, while others can join in or remain silent. In-person attendance is highly recommended. We will arrange ourselves in a circle so that during the chant, each participant can have the option of going into the center and receiving. On-line participants will have the option of having several minutes of the group healing energy directed towards them as well.
The rest of the class will utilize pranayama, kriya (practices working on the subtle level of energy), and meditation with the intention to more deeply work on this theme. Some postures will be present, but will simply be used to ground and distribute energy.

As Mother Nature is coming alive around us, we will use this practice to acknowledge the elements that comprise all outside and inside our individual selves. We will use the model of the elements as described in yogic philosophy. Our practice will help us recognize these elements, as well as help balance them within.
Asana typically makes up the bulk of drop-in classes, but this extended practice will be different. We will utilize pranayama, kriya (practices working on the subtle level of energy), and meditation more than is typical of a drop-in class. The intention will be to go more deeply inward than what we may give ourselves space for in a regular class. Some postures will be present to help familiarize with the elements, as well as to ground and distribute energy.
